Google Meet recordings to text.

Download the Meet recording from Google Drive, choose it here, and get the whole meeting as text with timestamps for minutes and follow-ups.

Free up to 30 minutes · No signup · Your file stays on your device

How to get the Meet recording

  1. Meet saves recordings to the organizer's Google Drive, in the folder Meet Recordings, as an MP4.
  2. Open it in Drive and click Download. On a phone, save it to Files.
  3. Choose the MP4 here. Only its sound is read, so a large file is fine.

Any other recording of the call works too, such as a screen recording saved as MP4.

Why no meeting bot

Note-taking bots join the call as a participant and send it to their servers. Here nothing joins, the recording stays on your device, and only its sound goes to speech recognition, which does not store it.

Common questions

How long can a meeting be?

30 minutes free, 3 hours with the pack, 5 hours on Pro.

Zoom or Teams?

The same way: see meeting recordings to text.

How it works

  1. Choose a file. It opens in your browser and is never uploaded. Only its sound, as low-quality mono audio, goes to speech recognition.
  2. Watch the text appear. Long recordings are done in 10-minute parts, and each part shows up as soon as it is ready.
  3. Copy or download. Plain text, a Word file, or SRT and VTT subtitles with every line timed.

Questions

Do I need an account?

No. Open the page and choose a file. If you buy a plan, you get an access code instead of an account.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The file is opened in your browser. Only its sound, converted to low-quality mono audio, is sent to speech recognition in parts, and we store neither the sound nor the text. The text is made on your device.

Which files work?

MP3, M4A, MP4, MOV and WAV of any length up to your plan's limit. OGG and Opus voice notes (WhatsApp, Telegram), WebM, FLAC and AAC work up to 60 minutes. The file needs speech.

Which languages?

The language is detected by itself. Speech recognition is the same as in our caption tool, measured in 20 languages (see supported languages); others may work with more mistakes.

Does it tell speakers apart?

No, not yet. You get the text in paragraphs, with a new paragraph at each longer pause, and a timestamp at each paragraph.

How accurate is it?

Clear speech comes out almost word for word; in our tests on real videos the error rate was about 1 in 100 words with music in the background. Noise, crosstalk and strong accents add mistakes, so check names and numbers before you publish.

How long does it take?

Reading the sound of a 1-hour MP4 took 18 seconds in our test; then each 10-minute part takes seconds to a minute. Keep the tab open while it runs.

What counts as a file on the pack?

The same for one file and the pack: a file counts once, when its first part is turned into text with your code. Choosing the same file again (same name, size and date) does not count again. Pro counts the hours turned into text in the last 30 days.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes for voice notes and shorter recordings in your phone's browser. For files over an hour a computer is faster and has more memory. If you opened this page from Instagram or TikTok, open it in your browser first.

How do I cancel or get a refund?

Cancel Pro anytime at app.link.com or by email. Ask within 14 days of a payment and you get the full amount back; see the refund policy.

How do I get help?

Email support@usefulshed.com with what you tried and, if you bought a plan, your access code or the email you paid with.
